What is etheco?
A free ethical and eco-friendly shopping engine.
We want to help you make informed purchasing choices based on the ethical issues that are important to you, including human rights, environmental issues and social justice.
We'll help you make those choices with our magical (but very clever and technical) etheco rating system.
Rating things
The etheco rating system is governed by a little algorithm that looks at a comprehensive environmental dataset for each product and produces a % score against the product or service you’re after.
The higher the score, the more ethical the product / service and the better the product / service is for the environment. Simple.
Our rating system incorporates the specific environmental impact of the product or service including factors such as Energy Efficiency, Co2 emissions, Pollutants emitted and sustainability.
Finally, across all products and services, we’ve factored in data from Ethiscore, the UK’s leading provider of ethical information in respect of companies, brands and products.
Altogether, etheco is a first and though its not perfect yet, its well on its way.
